Meet Our New Furbaby ~ Eva

We are blessed to add a new furbaby to our family. Eva originally belonged to my cousin Scott and his family, but due to work commitments they needed to rehome her. I chanced upon the post on Facebook and was immediately drawn to Eva. She is a Great Dane cross Rhodesian Ridgeback though I think the Dane presents more strongly in her lol

As a child growing up, we had both a pure Great Dane and a Rhodesian Ridgeback so I know the temperaments reasonably well. Eva is absolutely adorable and has an awesome nature. I took her for a long walk this morning and she walked beautifully.....we are so lucky to have her :)

Here are a few photos I took of her yesterday....in the first she is wondering what all the clicking and whirring sounds are coming from my camera....I think this will be one of my fav pics of her lol

Here she is watching what is happening outside in our little cul-de-sac

And here she is cleaning out under our table...the kids ever so kindly left some food mess for her to hoover up LOL

I think Eva is a perfect fit for our family, I reckon I will have lots more photos to show off :P

Weekly Weigh-In ~ September 24th

I meant to do my weigh-in on Thursday which was a week from my first weight loss post lol but I forgot. Today on the scales I weigh 80.4 kilos so I have lost a little over a kilo which I am pleased with.

I have also almost reached my first mini-goal which is to get under 80 kilos :)

Downs Syndrome Cause Ribbons

One of my readers contacted me requesting these ribbons for Downs Syndrome Awareness as one of my recent kits (Underdogs Mini) has the two colors for the cause in it. I made three ribbons and am offering them here for others who'd like to use them also :)

My Weight Loss Journey ~ Beginning

Since I am on a journey to lose weight, I thought I would post here as I go along....hopefully I will have lots of loss to post LOL I am certainly working on it ;)

I got my husband to take two photos of me yesterday, one front-on and one side-on so I can not only have a before and after shot but so I can have progress shots too....excuse the crappiness in the photos, I tried to instruct hubby but he has no interest in photography LMAO

My current weight is 81.5 kilos, I have gotten that down from around 85 kilos in the last few weeks. My goal weight is 65 kilos. For some reason when I put on weight it does not distribute "evenly" and I end up looking like a beachball with arms and legs lol from the side at least anyway!

Because I am prone to injuring my ankles and knees I am taking it very gently and doing more low impact exercise rather than high impact that will cause an injury. My mum is helping me, it's much more motivating for me to have someone to walk with and she has such a lovely figure....which inspires me as well lol

So we are walking 45-60 or so minutes each day and have a few different routes we walk. When I remember to use my RunKeeper App on the iPhone, my progress is sent to the website, you can follow along with me here, we also take a break 1-2 days a week to give our bodies a chance to repair and strengthen.

I have cut out all wheat foods (bread etc), dairy and junk, and though I have still occasionally given in to weakness I am getting better at saying no and have instructed hubby to stop bring home junkie type foods....he is one of those slender types that have never been overweight so he doesn't tend to give it much thought lol

Unrelated: I also managed to catch this picture of my cat and her gorgeous eyes this week :)

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week :)

Botanic Gardens ~ September 11th

Yesterday Mum and I walked through the Botanic Gardens again, I don't think I will ever tire of walking there :)

Once again I took loads of photos (almost 250 LOL) and have uploaded the best of them to my Flickr.

Here are some of my favs

These flowers were SO vibrant, the color is almost overwhelming:

Loving the stripy look to this gorgeous rose:

This beautiful rose has a single dew drop inside it:

These flowers look like they are stretching up to greet the sun:

Again, the orange is so vibrant! Not a big fan of orange but these are gorgeous:

I don't know what this is called but the pink color is quite delicious:

And of course the ducks....who could resist these cuties?

See the rest here at Flickr.

It is also my husband's 40th birthday today so I have been a naughty girl and had some cake to celebrate....more walking for me LOL
